What does it mean to be Editor-in-Chief?
At the end of the 2022-2023 school year I was selected to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Chagrin Falls Zenith Yearbook.

This year, The Zenith is in its 114th volume with recorded copies dating back all the way to 1911 making it a very historical book. The Zenith is one of the only published memories of a class, capturing people's high school experiences year after year.

I take great pride in producing this book knowing its a staple of Chagrin Falls. I want to look back into this book years from now be be proud of the work that I've gotten to be apart of. I have a demand for perfection in this book, and I take great pride knowing I have the responsibility for creating a product that the whole yearbook staff is proud of.

What does it take to create a yearbook?
It takes over 14,000 combined man hours each year to produce a finished yearbook. Lets break down the photography, selection, design and revision process
Shoot.
The first and most important part of creating a yearbook is actually getting the photos. We have a team of about 50 student photographers that attend sporting events, clubs, classes and so much more to capture the school year
Select.
After our photos are taken, we select the just the best. This is difficult because each year we take thousands of photos, and we demand perfection for each one that is in the book
Design.
After we have our photos, we upload them into Yearbook Avenue by Jostens. From here we can layout our pages, plan the structure of the book, and access insights about coverage and sales.
Edit.
The editing of our book is where things really clean up. Each page is examined by at least 2 of our editors for flow, spelling, photo quality and many other categories. Only once each page meets our requirements can it be sent off and published.
Publish.
Once the book has be edited, reviewed and approved by our principal. It is sent to Jostens to be printed. Once printed over the summer, the books are shipped to the school and distributed by our next year editors.
